KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index continued its bullish run, gaining 80.97 points to close trading at 2,973.7 points on Tuesday.
With this, the benchmark index closed above the 2,900-point threshold for the first time since August 22 last year. The benchmark index also extended its gaining streak for a sixth straight session on Tuesday.
Tuesday’s gain was also supported by volume as 43.58 million units of shares worth Rs 20.08 billion were traded through 177,101 transactions during the session.
The unit prices of 236 scrips increased during the session, while 14 declined. Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 718.88 million worth of shares traded. Next were Shivam Cements Ltd and Himalayan Reinsurance Company Ltd with turnovers of Rs 688.31 million and Rs 560.12 million, respectively.
All sectoral indices ended the session in the green territory, with three posting gains of more than 4%. Manufacturing & Processing sub-index posted the highest gain of 4.56%. Life Insurance and Microfinance sub-indices followed with gains of 4.42% and 4.16%, respectively. The market heavyweight Banking sub-index also closed the session 2.1% higher.
Market capitalization, the total worth of listed shares on the bourse, reached a record Rs 4962.12 billion on Tuesday, up from Rs 4,826 billion on Monday.
