KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) continued its gaining streak on the last trading day of the week, gaining 48.71 points to close trading at 2,851.24 points.
Despite an initial dip, the market remained in the green throughout the session with the index showing a steady upward trend before closing near the day’s high of 2,854.64 points.
Market breadth remained strongly positive as unit prices of 251 stocks advanced during the session, while 16 declined and one remained unchanged. Unit prices of six scrips hit the positive circuit of 10%, while three others posted gains above 9%.
National Hydropower Company Ltd topped the turnover chart on Wednesday wth Rs 434.76 million worth of shares traded. Next were Ridi Energy Company Ltd and Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd with turnovers of Rs 413.41 million and Rs 398.61 million, respectively.
Total turnover improved to Rs 9.91 billion with 27.93 million units traded through 108,869 transactions.
All sectoral indices posted gains on Wednesday. The Others sub-index posted the highest gain of 3.43%. Next were Hydropower and Manufacturing & Processing sub-indices with gains of 2.7% and 2.58%, respectively.
