KATHMANDU: The market stretched its gains for a second straight session on Tuesday as the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index closed 46.69 points higher at 2,692.05 points.
Share prices of 221 companies advanced on the day, while 17 declined, and five remained unchanged. Three scrips saw their unit prices hit a positive circuit of 10% during the session. Samriddhi Finance Company Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 247.15 million worth of shares traded. Next were Peoples Hydropower Company Ltd and Saptakoshi Development Bank Ltd, with turnovers of Rs 168.05 million and Rs 142.22 million, respectively.
All trading groups ended the session higher on Tuesday. The biggest gain came from the Non-life insurance sub-index, which was up by 3.6%. Next were Hotels & Tourism and Development Bank sub-indices, with gains of 2.77% and 2.32%, respectively. Market heavyweight Banking sub-index also ended the session 1.6% higher.
Securities worth Rs 6.12 billion changed hands on the bourse through 68,614 transactions on Tuesday.
