
KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index saw a positive turnaround on Wednesday, climbing 39.13 points to close trading at 2,621.86.
This uptick follows a notable decline on Tuesday, when the index dropped 58.05 points to 2,582.73, slipping below the 2,600-point psychological mark for the first time since January 15.
Despite the gain, total turnover fell Rs 4.20 billion on Wednesday with 9.14 units of scrips traded through 48,785 transactions. Share prices of 231 companies advanced, while 12 saw declines during the session.
Leading the turnover was Himalayan Reinsurance Limited with Rs 418.67 million worth of shares traded. Next were Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited and Global IME Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd with turnovers of Rs 316.32 million and Rs 229.87 million, respectively.
All trading groups posted gains on Wednesday. The Life Insurance sub-index posted the highest gain of 2.06%, followed by Hotels & Tourism and Non-Life Insurance sub-indices with gains of 1.78% and 1.75%, respectively.
