KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index posted a gain of 36.86 points, closing the trading session at 1,985.44 points on Tuesday.
The market opened for trading at 1,952.19 points and initially experienced a dip. However, the benchmark index started following an upward trajectory as the day progressed, eventually closing 1.89% higher.
Unit prices of 214 scrips increased on the day, while 24 declined, and four remained unchanged. Shivam Cement recorded the highest turnover of the day, with shares worth Rs 180.71 million traded. Next on the list were Sonapur Minerals and Oil Ltd and Reliable Nepal Life Insurance, with turnovers of Rs 151.03 million and Rs 143.57 million, respectively. During the session, share prices of eight companies hit the positive circuit of 10%.
All trading groups ended the day in the green, with the highest growth coming from the Hotels & Tourism sub-index, which was up by 4.33%. Hydropower and Finance sub-indices followed with gains of 3.3% and 3.23%, respectively.
The market logged a turnover of Rs 4.30 billion, with 12.4 million scrips traded through 95,433 transactions. The total market capitalization reached Rs 3.06 trillion.
