Nepse gains 23.4 points

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index recorded a gain of 23.4 points on Wednesday.

This is the second consecutive trading session that Nepse has seen gains since March 25, when the market rose by 17.36 points. During that period, the market had experienced a loss of over 60 points.

The market opened at 1,821.54 points and quickly started gaining momentum, reaching an intra-day high of 1,846.66 points. Ultimately, the market closed 2.28% higher at 1,845.01 points.

All trading groups registered gains on the day, with the Others sub-index leading with a 2.37% increase. Following closely were the Finance and Hydropower sub-indices, which gained 2.28% and 2.19%, respectively.

Shivam Cement topped the list of companies in terms of the transaction amount, with shares worth Rs 56.65 million being traded. Nepal Doorsanchar Company Ltd and NIC Asia Bank followed closely with transactions of Rs 47.42 million and Rs 47.41 million, respectively.

A total of 2.57 million units of shares, valued at Rs 857.62 million, were traded through 25,634 transactions in the market. The total market capitalization reached Rs 2.69 trillion on Wednesday.
