Nepse gains 19.56 points; turnover rises to Rs 9.47 billion

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) gained 19.56 points, closing the first trading day of the week at 2,698.03 points.

This is the first double-digit gain since February 2, when the market went up by a whopping 69.8 points, taking the benchmark index near the psychological 2,700-point level.

Unit prices of 176 scrips advanced during the session, while 63 declined and four remained unchanged. Four scrips saw their prices hit the positive circuit of 10% during the session.

NRN Infrastructure & Development registered the highest turnover of the session, as Rs 335.47 million worth of shares of the company changed hands on Sunday. Next were CEDB Holdings Ltd and Himalayan Power Partners Ltd, with turnovers of Rs 313.86 million and Rs 306.44 million, respectively.

Among trading groups, two posted losses while 11 ended the session in the green. The biggest gain came from the Finance sub-index, which was up by 4.94%. Similarly, the Hotels & Tourism and Microfinance sub-indices posted gains of 1.95% and 1.86%, respectively.

Securities worth Rs 9.47 billion, the highest since February 3, were traded on the bourse through 96,282 transactions during the session.
