Nepse falls below 1,900 points

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) fell below the psychological 1,900-point mark to end trading 19.06 points lower at 1,889.59 points on Tuesday.

The benchmark index has posted a loss on all three trading sessions this week, losing 67.31 points in the process.

The market opened for trading with the Nepse index at 1,908.29 points. Although the benchmark index posted nominal gains initially, it fell thereafter to eventually close 0.99% lower.

All trading groups closed the day in red reflecting the overall market scenario. The biggest loss came from the Hydropower sub-index which was down by 1.79%. Next on the list were Non Life Insurance and Hotels & Tourism sub-indices which fell by 1.69% and 1.58%, respectively.

Share prices of 31 companies advanced on the day, while 193 declined and nine remained unchanged. Sanima GIC Insurance Ltd logged the highest turnover of the day with Rs 203.79 million worth of shares traded. Nabil Bank Ltd and NIC Asia were next with turnovers of Rs 34.43 million and Rs 30.29 million, respectively.

Shares worth Rs 1.28 billion were traded on the bourse on Tuesday. Total market capitalization reached Rs 2.88 trillion on the day.
