Nepse extends winning run to fifth straight session

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its gaining streak on a fifth straight session, closing trading 6.16 points higher at 2,646.84 points on Tuesday.

This is the longest gaining run on the bourse since July 24 when the market snapped a six-day winning streak.

Share prices of 125 companies advanced during the session, while 108 declined and 10 remained unchanged. Sindhu Bikas Bank Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 169.29 million worth of shares traded. Next were Saptakoshi Development Bank Ltd and Sahas Urja Ltd with turnovers of Rs 145.97 million and Rs 144.98 million, respectively.

Among trading groups, four ended the session in red, eight posted gains and one remained unchanged. The biggest gain came from the Finance sub-index which was up by 2.65%. Manufacturing & Processing sub-index posted the highest loss of 0.25%.

Securities worth Rs 5.38 billion were traded on the bourse through 66,626 transactions during the session. Hydropower stocks were high in demand as Rs 2.67 billion worth of hydropower stocks changed hands on the bourse on Tuesday.
