KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its rally for the fifth consecutive trading session on Sunday, posting a gain of 19.27 points to settle at 2,674.2 points.
Although the index dropped sharply initially, it remained in positive territory throughout most of the session and ultimately ended the session 0.72% higher.
Unit prices of 187 scrips advanced during the session, while 64 declined and 11 remained unchanged. Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd topped the turnover chart with Rs 360.5 million worth of shares traded. Api Power Company and Manjushree Finance Ltd were next with turnovers of Rs 332.17 million and Rs 282.07 million, respectively.
Total turnover improved to Rs 5.65 billion with 13.19 million units traded through 55,206 transactions.
All sectoral indices ended the session in the green. The biggest gain came from the Finance sub-index, which rose 2.22%. Others and Trading sub-indices were next, with gains of 1.19% and 1.12%, respectively. The market heavyweight Banking sub-index also closed 0.78% higher on Sunday.
