KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index extended its winning streak into a third straight session on Wednesday, closing 10.30 points higher at 2,648.90 points.
The benchmark index moved into positive territory right after trading began and hit an intra-day high of 2,653.47 points. Although it pared some gains as the session progressed, it remained firmly in the green and ultimately ended the session up 0.39%.
Unit prices of 157 scrips advanced, while 90 declined and 13 remained unchanged on Wednesday. Total turnover slightly improved to Rs 4.45 billion, compared to the previous session, with 10,45 million shares traded through 48,640 transactions.
Ankhu Khola Jalvidyut Company Ltd topped the turnover chart with Rs 286.91 million worth of shares traded. Next were Ngadi Group Power Ltd and SY Panel (Nepal) Ltd with turnovers of Rs 254.71 million and Rs 234.71 million, respectively.
Among sectoral indices, three posted losses, while the remaining 10 ended in the green. The biggest loss came from the Trading sub-index, which closed 0.94% lower. Among gainers, the Life Insurance sub-index led with gains of 1.79%.
The total market capitalisation stood at Rs 4.45 trillion, while the total float market capitalization reached Rs 1.51 trillion at the close of trading.
