
KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its losing run for a third session, closing 25.16 points lower at 2,821.13 points on Wednesday.
Turnover fell to Rs 10.97 billion with 23.34 million units of securities traded through 101,603 transactions.
Unit prices of 174 companies declined during the session, while 62 advanced and eight remained unchanged. Himalayan Reinsurance Company Ltd logged the highest turnover with Rs 967.09 million worth of shares traded. Next were Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd and Sagarmatha Jalavidyut Company Ltd with turnovers of Rs 903.14 million and Rs 307.94 million, respectively.
Except for the Trading sub-index, which posted a nominal gain of 0.43%, all trading groups ended the session in the red. The biggest loss came from the Finance sub-index which was down by 1.55%. Next were Non Life Insurance and Life Insurance sub-indices with losses of 1.51% and 1.45%, respectively.
Hydropower stocks accounted for nearly half of the daily turnover as Rs 4.5 billion worth of shares of hydropower companies changed hands on the bourse on Wednesday.
