KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) extended its losing streak into a third straight session on Tuesday, closing 9.96 points lower at 2,688.32 points.
The trading volume also declined along with the benchmark index as Rs 7.92 billion worth of securities were traded on the bourse on Tuesday, compared to Rs 8.5 billion on Monday. Both the number of shares and transactions fell on Tuesday, compared to Monday.
Unit prices of 160 scrips declined during the session, while 86 advanced and one remained unchanged. Ngadi Group Power Ltd topped the list in terms of turnover with Rs 446.03 million worth of shares traded. Himalayan Power Partner Ltd and Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd were next on the list with turnovers of Rs 409.49 million and Rs 364.86 million, respectively.
Among 13 trading groups, three posted gains and the remaining 10 ended the session in the red. Others sub-index logged the highest gain of 2.21%. On the other hand, the Investment sub-index recorded the biggest decline of 1.87%. Trading and Development Bank sub-indices were also down 1.65% and 1.61%, respectively.
