Nepse extends losses to seventh session, closes 32.21 points lower

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its losing run for a seventh straight session, closing 32.21 points lower at 2,719.20 points on Tuesday.

Unit prices of 208 scrips declined during the session, while 33 posted gains and three remained unchanged. Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 586.51 million worth of shares traded. Next were Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd and Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank Ltd with turnovers of Rs 533.68 million and Rs 433.31 million, respectively.

All trading groups, except Development Bank, which posted 1.93% gains, ended the session in the red. The biggest loss came from the Manufacturing & Processing sub-index which was down by 2.49%. Investment and Trading sub-indices were next with losses of 1.89% and 1.79%, respectively.

Securities worth Rs 8.39 billion were traded on the bourse on Tuesday through 92,031 transactions.
