KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its losing run into its fourth straight session, closing 11.52 points lower at 2,708.25 points on Sunday.
Although the benchmark index initially moved into the green territory, hitting an intra-day high of 2,727.42 points, it pared all the gains and eventually ended the session 0.42% lower. With this loss, the benchmark index inched closer to the psychological 2,700-point level.
Nepse has posted a gain only once over the past seven sessions. During the period, it has lost 110.85 points.
Turnover also fell to Rs 4.4 billion with 11.12 million units traded through 58,087 transactions.
Unit prices of 173 scrips declined during the session, while 79 advanced. Union Hydropower Ltd topped the turnover chart with Rs 299.97 million worth of shares traded. Next were Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd and Everest Bank Ltd with turnovers of Rs 274.64 million and Rs 221.59 million, respectively.
Among sectoral indices, only three posted gains and the remaining 10 ended in the red territory. The Mutual Fund posted the highest loss of 0.43%. Hydropower and Banking sub-indices were up by 0.68% and 0.65%, respectively.
