Nepse extends losses to fifth straight session

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) extended its losing run into the fifth straight session, closing the last trading day of the week 8.41 points lower at 2,611.85 points.

The benchmark index has shed 61.84 points over the past five sessions.

Unit prices of 82 companies went up during the session, while 164 declined and one remained unchanged. Soaltee Hotel Limited logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 561.91 million worth of shares traded. Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd and Universal Power Company Ltd followed with turnovers of Rs 441.7 million and Rs 334.59 million, respectively.

Among trading groups, three posted gains and the remaining 10 ended in the red. Hotels & Tourism sub-index logged the impressive gain of 4.91%. On the other hand, the biggest loss came from the Development Bank sub-index which was down by 2.12%.

Total turnover fell to Rs 7.08 billion with 17.42 million units of shares traded through 78,493 transactions.
