Nepse extends losing run to fifth session; turnover drops to Rs 4.56 billion

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) extended its losing run to a fifth straight session, closing 12.84 points lower at 2,669.31 points on Thursday—the last trading session of the week.

The benchmark index has ended in the green only once in the past 13 sessions. Over the period, Nepse has shed 220.97 points.

Unit prices of 175 scrips fell on Thursday, while 62 advanced and seven remained unchanged. Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 282.12 million worth of shares traded. Next were Himalayan Reinsurance Company Ltd and Sindhu Bikash Bank with turnovers of Rs 231.23 million and Rs 166.47 million, respectively.

Among trading groups, all groups, except the Trading sub-index, posted losses on Thursday. The biggest loss came from the Finance sub-index, which was down by 1.26%.

Total turnover fell to Rs 4.56 billion as 9.59 million units of shares were traded on the bourse through 55,476 transactions.
