Nepse extends losing run; daily turnover drops to Rs 5.66 billion

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) extended its loss for a third straight session on Wednesday. The benchmark index posted a marginal loss of 4 points, ending the session at 2,576.76 points.

Daily turnover fell to Rs 5.66 billion during the session — the lowest since July 9, when Rs 5.32 billion worth of shares were traded on the bourse.

The unit prices of 163 scrips declined on the day, while 74 advanced, and seven remained unchanged. CEDB Hydropower Development Company logged the highest turnover of the session, with Rs 205.8 million worth of shares traded. Nepal Finance Company and NLG Insurance Company followed with turnovers of Rs 169.83 million and Rs 159.58 million, respectively.

Except for the Banking and Non-life Insurance sub-indices, which posted nominal gains, all other trading groups ended the session in the red. The biggest loss came from the Finance sub-index, which was down by 2.68%. Next were the Microfinance and Mutual Fund sub-indices, down by 1.07% and 0.83%, respectively.

A total of 80.378 million units of securities were traded on the secondary market on Wednesday through 1.39 million transactions.
