KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) extended its gains for a third consecutive day on Sunday, rising by 14.81 points to close at 2,080.86 points.
After a two-day break, the market opened for trading with the benchmark index at 2,065.4 points. Although the index initially experienced a loss, dropping to an intra-day low of 2,057.91 points, it made a comeback and closed the day 0.71% higher.
Most of the trading groups ended the day in the green. While the Finance, Manufacturing & Processing, Microfinance, and Others sub-indices experienced declines, other sub-indices logged marginal gains. The most significant gain was seen in the Non-life Insurance sub-index, which rose by 2.21%. Hotels and Tourism followed with a gain of 1.87%, while the Banking sub-index recorded gains of 1.07%.
Nepal Insurance Company Ltd (Promoter Shares) was the most traded scrip of the day, with a turnover of Rs 584.56 million. Next on the list were newly-listed Ghorani Cement Industry Ltd and Soaltee Hotel Ltd, with turnovers of Rs 231.56 million and Rs 145.3 million, respectively.
A total of 9.7 million units of shares, worth Rs 3.01 billion, were traded on the bourse on Sunday. The total market capitalization reached Rs 3.09 trillion.
