
KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) extended its gaining streak into the ninth straight session, closing trading 75.24 points higher at 2,890.28 points on Sunday.
Turnover increased to Rs 14.25 billion—the highest since August 27 last year. This was the biggest intra-day gain since October 1 last year when the bourse logged gains of 114.70 points.
Over the past nine sessions, the Nepse index has gained 211.81 points.
Unit prices of 196 scrips advanced during the session, while 44 declined and four remained unchanged. Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd posted the highest turnover of the session with Rs 975.37 million worth of shares traded. Next were Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd and Sindhu Bikash Bank Ltd with turnovers of Rs 859.33 million and Rs 400.44 million.
Among trading groups, all groups, except Mutual Fund, ended the session in the green. The biggest gain came from the Manufacturing & Processing sub-index, which was up by 4.79%. Life Insurance and Finance sub-indices were next with gains of 4.31% and 4.28%.
A total of 29.16 million units of scrips were traded on the bourse through 139,596 transactions.
