KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its gaining streak for a third straight session, posting a nominal gain of 5.32 points to close trading at 2,591.56 points on Sunday.
Unit prices of 141 scrips advanced during the session, while 94 declined and eight remained unchanged. Janak Finance Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 190.94 million units of shares traded. Next were River Falls Power Ltd and Rasudagadhi Hydropower Ltd with turnovers of Rs 173.64 million and Rs 129.08 million, respectively.
Among trading groups, five logged losses while eight ended the session in green. The biggest loss came from the Finance sub-index which was down by 1.04%, while the Hydropower sub-index posted the biggest gain of 1.67% during the session.
Hydropower stocks were high in demand on Sunday as 4.42 million units of shares of different hydropower companies, worth Rs 2.10 billion, were traded on the bourse on Sunday. Finance and Banking were next with total turnovers of Rs 581.81 million and Rs 427.11 million, respectively.
Daily turnover improved slightly to Rs 4.86 billion compared to Thursday.
