KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) extended its gains for a second consecutive day on Wednesday, as the benchmark index gained 29.47 points to close the penultimate trading day of the week at 2,045.45 points.
The market opened for trading at 2,016.8 points and quickly embarked on an upward trajectory. After reaching an intra-day high of 2,047.89, the index relinquished some gains but ultimately closed the day 1.46% higher.
All trading groups recorded gains on the day, with the most significant increase observed in the Hydropower sub-index, which rose by 2.74%. Close behind were the Life Insurance and Non-Life Insurance sub-indices which increased by 2.51% and 2.16%, respectively.
Ghorahi Cement Industry Ltd recorded the highest turnover of the day, with shares worth Rs 75.76 million traded. Next on the list were Soaltee Hotel Ltd and IME Life Insurance, with turnovers of Rs 70.63 million and Rs 54.64 million, respectively.
Shares worth Rs 1.51 billion were traded on the bourse on Wednesday, showing a slight improvement compared to Tuesday when shares worth Rs 1.33 billion changed hands. The total market capitalization reached Rs 3.06 trillion on the day.
