KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its gains for a seventh straight session, posting an increase of 16.42 points to close at 2,037.06 points on Wednesday.
A total of 11.56 million units worth Rs 5.01 billion were traded on the bourse on the day, which is the highest daily turnover since January 12 when shares worth Rs 5.29 billion had changed hands.
The market opened for trading at 2,020.15 points and climbed to an all-time high of 2,066.75 points. However, the index erased the gains and dropped to an intra-day low of 2,016.25 points before making a comeback to eventually end 0.81% higher.
The share prices of 126 scrips appreciated on the day, while 91 saw their share prices decline. Unit prices of six scrips remained unchanged.
Shivam Cement was the preferred stock among investors, with the company’s shares worth Rs 281.70 million being traded on the day. Following closely were Himalayan Distillery Ltd and Nepal Life Insurance Co Ltd with turnovers of Rs 243.40 million and Rs 145.64 million, respectively.
