KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) continued its gaining streak on the seventh day, registering a gain of 16.49 points to close at 1,959.12 points on Sunday. The benchmark index has added 140.81 points in the process.
This is the Nepse index’s longest gaining run since July 20 last year when the benchmark index registered gains on eight successive days.
Except for three sub-indices – Finance, Hydropower, and Mutual Fund, all trading groups posted gains on the day. The highest gain came from Manufacturing & Processing group as its sub-index went up by 4.69 points. Next on the list was the Hotels sub-index which posted a gain of 4.47 points. Banking, the heavyweight trading group on the bourse, was up by 0.17%.
Shivam Cement was the main attraction for buyers 326,034 units of shares worth Rs 146.5 million of the cement producer changed hands on the day through 1,979 transactions. Next on the list were Nepal Life Insurance Company Ltd and Himalaya Distillery Ltd with turnovers of Rs 77.47 million and Rs 58.13 million, respectively.
Shares worth Rs 1.87 billion were traded on the day through 34,841 transactions. Total market capitalization reached 2.85 trillion on Wednesday.
