
KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index continued its gaining run into the third straight session, closing 12.68 points higher at 2,740.59 points on Tuesday.
This is the highest close since December 4 last year when Nepse closed at 2,750.87 points.
Despite the gain, unit prices of 149 scrips declined during the session, while 87 advanced and eight remained unchanged. Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 820.23 million worth of shares traded. Next were Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd and Peoples Hydropower Company Ltd with turnovers of Rs 516.82 million and Rs 290.39 million, respectively.
Among trading groups, six ended the session in the red, while seven posted gains. The biggest gain came from the Others sub-index, which was up by 3.68%. Life Insurance and Investment sub-indices also posted gains of 1.74% and 1.24%, respectively. On the other hand, Development Bank and Finance sub-indices fell by 1.74% and 1.4%, respectively.
Turnover slightly improved to Rs 10.43 billion on Tuesday, with 18.23 million units of securities traded.
