
KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) snapped a seven-day losing run, ending trading 17.28 points higher at 2,736.48 points on Wednesday.
The benchmark index had lost 171.08 points over the past sessions.
Unit prices of 144 securities advanced during the session, while 89 declined and 11 remained unchanged. Machhapuchhre Bank Ltd (Promoter Shares) logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 813.65 million worth of shares traded. Next were Himalayan Reinsurance Company Ltd and NRN Infrastructure & Development Ltd with turnovers of Rs 560.4 million and Rs 493.67 million, respectively.
Except for the Development Bank and Microfinance sub-indices, which posted nominal losses, all trading groups ended the session in the green. The biggest gain came from the Investment sub-index, which was up by 1.76%. Next were the Others and Hydropower sub-indices with gains of 1.57% and 0.85%, respectively.
Securities worth Rs 8.23 billion were traded on the bourse through 79,236 transactions on Wednesday.
