Nepse ends 32 points higher on last trading day of week

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index posted gains of 32 points and closed the last trading day of the week at 2,568.11 points on Thursday.

Although the benchmark index dipped initially, it recovered the losses and maintained the momentum throughout the session to eventually end the session 1.26% higher.

With this, the Nepse index recovered the previous session’s loss. Nepse index posted a loss of 27.32 points, snapping a six-day gaining streak on Wednesday.

Share prices of 143 companies advanced, while 96 declined and three remained unchanged during the session. Sanima GIC Insurance Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 341.77 million worth of shares traded. Next were Himalayan Life Insurance Ltd and Shivam Cement with turnovers of Rs 246.49 million and Rs 237.23 million, respectively.

Four sub-indices posted losses on the day, while nine ended the day in the green. The biggest loss came from the Investment sub-index which was down by 0.73%, while the Non-life sub-index posted the biggest gain of 2.95%. Banking, the heavyweight trading group in the secondary market, was up by 1.36%.

Shares worth Rs 14.13 billion were traded on the bourse through 159,757 transactions on Thursday.
