KATHMANDU: The market extended losses for a second straight session on Wednesday as the benchmark Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index shed 14.12 points and closed trading at 2,734.83 points.
Share prices of 138 companies declined during the session while 99 advanced and seven remained unchanged. Janaki Finance registered the highest turnover of the session with Rs 338.63 million worth of shares traded. Next were Pokhara Finance Ltd and Saptakoshi Development Bank Ltd with turnovers of Rs 258.94 million and Rs 215.76 million, respectively.
Four trading groups posted gains, while nine ended the session in the red. The biggest gain came from the Finance index which was up by 4.2%. Trading, on the other hand, was the biggest loser with a loss of 16.1%.
Securities worth Rs 7.91 billion were traded on the bourse through 77,861 transactions.
