KATHMANDU: The secondary market saw some corrections after Wednesday’s gains, with the benchmark Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index falling 29.07 points to close the week’s trading at 1,934.47 points on Thursday.

The market opened for trading with the benchmark index at 1,973.09 points. Although the index posted nominal gains initially, it lost value thereafter and eventually closed 1.48% lower.

All trading groups posted losses on the day. The Development Bank group was the biggest loser, as its sub-index fell 2.48%. Next on the list were the Manufacturing & Processing and Finance groups, which were down by 2.33% and 1.98%, respectively.

Shivam Cement continued to be the most traded stock in the secondary market, with shares worth Rs 84.28 million changing hands on the day. Himalayan Distillery Ltd and NIC Asia were next on the list with turnovers of Rs 60 million and Rs 53.51 million, respectively.

A total of 4.91 million units of shares worth Rs 1.65 billion were traded in the bourse on Thursday, with the total market capitalization recorded at Rs 2.81 trillion.
