Nepse down by 23.63 points

KATHMANDU:  Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index continued its losing streak on the third day, with the benchmark index closing 23.63 points lower at 1,908.05 points on Monday.

The market opened for trading with the Nepse index at 1,931.84 points. Although the market attempted to post gains initially, gaining six points in the first few minutes of trading, it went on a free-fall to hit an intra-day low of 1,904.69 points before ultimately closing 1.22% lower.

All the trading groups posted losses on the day. Development Bank’s sub-index was the biggest loser of the day as its sub-index fell by 1.88%. Next on the list were Finance and Microfinance indices which were down by 1.80 and 1.67%, respectively.

Shares of Arun Valley Hydropower Company were high in demand on the day as Rs 70.24 million worth of shares of the hydropower company were traded. Next on the list were Shivam Cement and NIC Asia Bank with transactions of Rs 43.33 million and Rs 31.16 million, respectively.

A total of 3.1 million units of shares worth Rs 920.07 million were traded on the day.
