KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index snapped a two-day winning run, losing 19.42 points to close at 1,967.57 points on Tuesday.
The market opened at 1,987.17 points and posted gains in initial trading. It, however, embarked on downward trajectory later on to ultimately end the day 0.97% lower.
Share prices of 191 companies declined on the day, while share prices of 33 companies advanced and four remained changed.
Nepal SBI Bank logged the highest turnover of the day with shares worth Rs 75.61 million traded. Shivam Cement and Everest Bank Ltd were next on the list with total turnovers of Rs 63.51 million and Rs 45.51 million, respectively.
Among trading groups, only Mutual Fund sub-index posted nominal growth. All other sub-indices ended the day in red. Hotels & Tourism Index posted the biggest loss of 1.92%, followed by Finance and Hydropower sub-indices which fell by 1.92% and 1.56%, respectively.
Daily turnover on the bourse fell to Rs 1.13 billion on Tuesday with 3.91 million units of shares traded. Market capitalization reached Rs 2.94 trillion.
