Nepse down 8.62 points; turnover improves to Rs 6.28 billion

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index tumbled by 8.62 points on the final trading day of the year 2081 BS, closing trading at 2,662.08 on Sunday.

Of the traded companies, share prices of 88 advanced, 157 declined, while one remained unchanged, reflecting a largely bearish sentiment in the market.

Despite the decline in the benchmark index, total market turnover surged to Rs 6.28 billion, up from Rs 5.58 billion of the previous session, i.e., Thursday. A total of 13.18 million units of scrips were traded through 54,361 transactions on Sunday.

In terms of turnover, CEDB Holdings Company Ltd led the market with transactions worth Rs 453.2 million, followed by NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited at Rs 444.6 million and Radhi Bidyut Company Limited (RADHI) at Rs 438.3 million.

Among trading groups, four posted gains and the remaining nine ended the session in the red. Investment sub-index posted the highest gain of 1.68%. On the other hand, trading suffered the highest loss of 1.5%, while Finance and Manufacturing & Processing were down 0.88% and 0.84%, respectively.
