Nepse down 8.57 points; turnover drops to Rs 7.6 billion

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) opened the week with a slight decline, shedding 8.57 points, to close at 2,679.98 on Sunday.

Despite briefly surpassing the psychological 2,700-point mark during the session, the index failed to sustain the momentum and ended the session in negative territory.

Unit prices of 148 companies declined on Sunday, while 99 advanced and one remained unchanged. The total turnover fell to Rs 7.60 billion, with 18.50 million units traded through 70,610 transactions.

Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 714.92 million worth of shares traded. Next were Universal Power Company Ltd and Ngadi Group Power Ltd with turnovers of Rs 303.13 million and Rs 295.13 million, respectively.

Among trading groups, only the Microfinance sub-index ended in the green, surging by 2.56%. However, all other trading groups posted losses, with the Hotels & Tourism sub-index recording the steepest decline at 1.56%.
