
KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index experienced a double-digit decline, dropping 33.33 points to close trading at 2,670.06 points on Monday.
With this, the benchmark index has fallen below the psychological 2,700-point level, reflecting a bearish sentiment among investors.
Unit prices of 23 scrips advanced during the session, while 221 declined. Total turnover remained at Rs 5.65 billion, with 10.01 million units of securities traded across 55,712 transactions.
Among the top gainers, Barahi Hydropower Company Ltd saw its share price rise by 7.46% to Rs 1,112.72, Butwal Power Company Ltd increased 6.63% to Rs 423.53, and Sindhu Bikas Bank climbed 6.44% to Rs 1,176.74. On the other hand, the top losers included Upper Hewakhola Hydropower Company Ltd, which saw a 9.09% drop in its share prices to Rs 679.34, while share prices of Himalayan Power Partners Ltd fell 4.32% to Rs 624.75 and Samriddhi Finance Company Ltd closed 4.01% lower at Rs 526.92.
All the trading groups ended the session in the red. The biggest loss came from the Trading sub-index, which was down by 3.11%. Next were Finance and Investment sub-indices, which ended 2.26% and 1.69% lower, respectively.
In terms of turnover, Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd led with Rs 503.60 million worth of shares traded, followed by NRN Infrastructure & Development and Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd with turnovers of Rs 432.17 million and Rs 331.76 million, respectively.
