KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) stretched its losing run into a fourth straight session, closing 32.38 points lower at 2,655.94 points on Wednesday.
The benchmark index, which began with week with a 16.68 points loss on Sunday, shed 7.75 points on Monday and another 9.96 points on Tuesday.
This is the longest losing run on the bourse since March 24, when the market ended a six-day losing streak. The benchmark index has lost 66.79 points over the past four sessions.
Total turnover also declined to Rs 7.57 billion on Wednesday, with 18.47 million units of shares traded through 64,140 transactions.
Share prices of 217 companies declined during the session, while only 28 advanced and one remained unchanged. Radhi Bidyut Company led the companies in terms of turnover with Rs 584.21 million worth of shares traded. Next were NRN Infrastructure and Development and Ngadi Group Power Ltd with turnovers of Rs 516.36 million and Rs 410.93 million, respectively.
All trading groups, except Mutual Fund and Manufacturing & Processing, which posted nominal gains, closed the session in the red. The biggest loss came from the Development Bank sub-index, which was down by 2.09%. Hydropower and Investment sub-indices were also down by 1.78% and 1.76%, respectively.
