
KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index continued its downward trend on Tuesday, shedding a marginal 3.44 points to close trading at 2,666.61.
The decline marked another day of losses for the benchmark index amidst mixed market performance. Unit prices of 121 companies advanced during the session, while 123 recorded declines. A total of 10.64 million units of securities worth Rs 5.31 billion were traded on the bourse through 53,492 transactions on Tuesday.
Among trading groups, Manufacturing & Processing posted gains of 1.57%, while Finance and Non-Life Insurance sub-indices posted nominal gains. However, all other sectors ended in negative territory with marginal losses.
Bottlers Nepal (Balaju) Ltd and Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha topped the list of gainers, closing 10% higher at Rs 17,830.20 and Rs 2,998.90, respectively, while Nepal Microinsurance Company Ltd saw its share price go up by 9.99% to Rs 332.50. On the losing end, Barahi Hydropower Public Ltd saw the steepest decline as its share price dropped by 5.85% to Rs 1,047.66. Samudayik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd and Unnati Sahakarya Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd logged losses of 4.62% each to Rs 1,812.42 and Rs 1,659.92, respectively.
In terms of turnover, NRN Infrastructure and Development led with Rs 591.44 million worth of shares traded. Next were Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd and Nepal Reinsurance Ltd with total turnovers of Rs 406.58 million and Rs 231.30 million, respectively.
