Nepse down 27.39 points after two-day rally

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index shed 27.39 points after a two-day rally, closing the market at 2,662.32 points on Tuesday.

The benchmark made attempts to breach the psychological 2,700-point level on Tuesday as well but failed. The index eventually ended the session 1.01% lower.

Share prices of 207 companies declined during the session, while 35 advanced and two remained unchanged. NLG Insurance Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 271.76 million worth of shares traded. Next were Nepal Finance Ltd and Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd with turnovers of Rs 29.71 million and Rs 137.67 million, respectively.

Among trading groups, 12 sub-indices posted losses while one remained unchanged. The biggest loss came from the Finance sub-index, which was down by 2.76%. Next were Hotels & Tourism and Manufacturing & Processing sub-indices, down by 1.93% and 1.75%, respectively.

Both turnover and the number of transactions fell on Tuesday. Shares worth Rs 4.59 billion were traded on the bourse during the session.
