KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index closed 27.14 points lower at 2,761.22 on Sunday.
Although the benchmark index breached the psychological support level of 2,803.25 points within minutes into the session, it pared all the gains and closed 0.97% lower.
Unit prices of 191 scrips declined, while 58 advanced. Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with a turnover of Rs 516.70 billion. Next were Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd and Nepal Republic Media Ltd with turnovers of Rs 354.52 million and Rs 249.61 million, respectively.
Total turnover reached Rs 7.73 billion with 20.51 units traded through 86,669 transactions. Total capitalization reached Rs 4.61 trillion at the close.
All trading groups ended the session in the red. The biggest loss came from the Trading sub-index, which was down by 1.64%. Next were Others and Microfinance sub-indices with losses of 1.34% and 1.31%, respectively.
