Nepse down 26.05 points; turnover slips to Rs 10.77 billion

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index posted a loss of 26.05 points to close trading at 2,672.39 points on Monday.

This is the second straight loss on the bourse this week. Nepse had posted a loss of 10.24 points on Sunday.

The benchmark index moved into the negative territory right after trading resumed on Monday morning and continued the downward trend throughout the session.

Unit prices of 212 scrips declined during the session, while 42 advanced and six remained unchanged. Ridi Power Company Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 771.91 million worth of shares traded. Next were SY Panel Ltd and Ankhu Khola Jalavidyut Company Ltd with turnovers of Rs 540.47 million and Rs 484.3 million, respectively.

Total turnover also declined to Rs 10.77 billion with 26.76 million units of shares traded through 102,281 transactions.

Except for Trading, which posted a marginal gain of 0.24%, all trading groups ended the session in the red. The biggest loss came fromthe  Finance sub-index, which was down 2.29%. Next were Others and Non-life Insurance sub-indices with losses of 1.96% and 1.41%, respectively.
