KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) shed 24.97 points and closed trading at 2,750.87 points on Wednesday.
The benchmark index dropped sharply in early trading. Although it recovered most of the losses by mid-day, it again plunged toward the close to eventually end the session 0.89% lower.
Share prices of 132 companies declined during the session, while 104 advanced and eight remained unchanged. Joshi Hydropower Development Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session, with Rs 303.06 million worth of shares traded. NRN Infrastructure & Development and Ankhukhola Jalavidyut Company Ltd were next, with turnovers of Rs 295.64 million and Rs 267.95 million, respectively.
Three trading groups posted gains, and 10 ended the session in red. The Trading sub-index posted the biggest loss, 8.72%. The Development Bank and Life Insurance sub-indices were down by 1.94% and 1.5%, respectively.
Securities worth Rs 9.13 billion were traded on the bourse through 96,677 transactions on Wednesday.
