KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) extended its losing run for a third straight session, closing 15.54 points lower at 2,594.13 points on Monday.
Share prices of 175 companies declined during the session, while 63 advanced and five remained unchanged.
NRN Infrastructure & Development posted the highest transaction of the session with Rs 452.55 million worth of shares traded. Next were Nyadi Hydropower Ltd and Himalayan Power Partner Ltd, with turnovers of Rs 282.71 million and Rs 156.03 million, respectively.
As usual, investors were after hydropower stocks, with Rs 2.6 billion worth of shares of hydropower companies changing hands on Monday. Development banks and finance companies followed, with total turnovers of Rs 557.21 million and Rs 518.41 million, respectively.
All sub-indices ended the session in the red on Monday. The biggest loss came from the Trading sub-index, which was down by 1.89%. Next were Hotels & Tourism and Finance sub-indices, with losses of 1.36% and 1.32%, respectively.
Daily turnover, however, improved to Rs 6.65 billion on Monday, compared to Rs 3.95 billion a day earlier.
