KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its winning run for a third straight session, closing trading 10.66 points lower at 2,633.27 points on Monday.
Daily turnover also fell to Rs 8.92 billion, down from Rs 9.12 billion on Sunday. Unit prices of 160 scrips declined during the session, while 80 advanced and two remained unchanged.
Saptakoshi Development Bank Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 269.11 million worth of shares traded. Next were Sindhu Bikash Bank Ltd and Mountain Energy Ltd with turnovers of Rs 266.43 million and Rs 259.91 million, respectively.
Investors were after hydropower stocks on Monday as share transactions of hydropower companies accounted for nearly half of the total daily turnover on Monday. Hydro stocks worth Rs 4.34 billion were traded on the bourse during the session.
Among trading groups, five sub-indices posted gains, while eight ended the session in the red. The biggest gain came from the Finance sub-index which went up by 3.46%. Similarly, the Trading sub-index witnessed the biggest drop of 1.83% during the session.
A total of 17.25 million units of scrips were traded through 87,564 transactions on Monday.
