
KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index fell by 10.14 points, closing trading at 2,704.70 points on Monday.
Although the benchmark index gained initially, climbing to an intra-day high of 2,732.51 points, it erased all the gains as the session progressed and eventually closed 0.37% lower.
Daily turnover fell to Rs 5.40 billion on Monday – the lowest since January 12 when the market recorded a turnover of Rs 3.94 billion. Both the number of transactions and securities traded fell significantly on Monday.
Unit prices of 144 securities declined during the session, while 144 declined and 12 remained unchanged. Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 439.36 million worth of shares traded. Next were Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd and Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank Ltd with turnovers of Rs 307.40 million and Rs 223.55 million, respectively.
Among trading groups, eight ended the session in the red, while four posted gains and one remained unchanged. The biggest loss came from the Trading sub-index which was up by 3.38%.
