KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) extended Sunday’s rally on Monday, with the benchmark index surging by 50.44 points to close at 2,650.66.
The market entered positive territory immediately after trading began and maintained its upward momentum throughout the session and eventually closed 1.94% higher.
Monday’s performance marked the largest single-day gain since October 28, when the index had climbed by 62.29 points. It also represented the highest closing level since September 28, when the market had settled at 2,663.52 points.
A total of 215 listed scrips advanced, while 37 declined and six remained unchanged during the session. Market activity also strengthened, with daily turnover rising to Rs 7.03 billion. Investors traded 14.2 million shares across 79,714 transactions on Monday.
Nepal Life Insurance Company led the turnover chart, with shares worth Rs 248.15 million traded. Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd and Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd followed with turnovers of Rs 244.32 million and Rs 207.62 million, respectively.
All trading groups closed in the green. The life-insurance sub-index posted the strongest gain of 4.94%. Manufacturing & Processing rose by 3.73%, while the Non-life Insurance sub-index advanced 2.99%.
