KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index posted a loss of 27.84 points and closed the last trading day of the week at 2,080.87 points on Thursday.
This is the second straight session that the Nepse index has logged a loss after four straight sessions of gains.
Share prices of 198 companies declined on the day, while 42 advanced and four remained unchanged.
Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Company Ltd logged the highest turnover of the day with shares worth Rs 508.90 million traded. Next were Shivam Cement with turnovers of Rs 240.45 million and Rs 162.43 million, respectively.
All the sub-indices posted losses on Thursday. The biggest loss came from the Life Insurance group, which fell by 2.65%. Next were Microfinance and Non-Life Insurance with losses of 2.09% and 1.7%, respectively.
Shares worth Rs 3.94 billion changed hands on Thursday, while market capitalization reached Rs 3.27 million.
