KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index dropped 28.92 points and closed the last trading day of the week at 1,932.45 points on Thursday.
The market opened for trading at 1,932.45 points and quickly entered a downward trajectory. As there was selling pressure on the bourse, the benchmark index ultimately ended the day 1.47% lower. Only 21 companies saw their share prices rise on the day, while 203 declined, and four remained unchanged.
All trading groups finished the day in red, with the most significant loss coming from the Hydropower sub-index, which was down by 2.52%. Following were the Others and Manufacturing & Processing sub-indices, which fell by 2.04% and 1.71%, respectively.
Liberty Energy Company recorded the highest turnover of the day as shares worth Rs 61.54 million changed hands. Soaltee Hotel Limited and Shivam Cement Ltd were next on the list, with shares worth Rs 40.19 million and Rs 37.78 million traded, respectively.
Shares worth Rs 1.15 billion changed hands on the secondary market on Thursday. The total market capitalization reached Rs 2.89 trillion.
