KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) extended its gaining streak for a second session on Sunday, gaining 62.21 points to close at 2,117.73 points. This is the first time since February 14 that the benchmark index has closed above the psychological 2,100-point mark.
All the trading groups ended the day in green with the highest gain coming from the Life Insurance sub-index which was up by 7.779%. Next on the list were Non-life Insurance and Finance sub-indices which grew by 6.09% and 5.73%, respectively.
Shivam Cement topped the listed companies in terms of turnover as Rs 499.07 million worth of the cement producer’s shares were traded on the day. Following closely were Soaltee Hotel Ltd and Himalayan Distillery Ltd with turnovers of Rs 389.09 million and Rs 243.81 million, respectively.
Unit prices of 189 scrips advanced on the day, while 32 declined and four remained unchanged.
Shares worth Rs 6.49 billion of 275 companies were traded on the day.
