Nepse closes above 2,000 points; turnover crosses Rs 4 billion

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index posted double-digit growth for a second straight session, posting a gain of 28.62 points to end trading at 2,027.51 points on Tuesday.

With this, the benchmark index has closed above the psychological 2,000 points level for the first time since April 16.

Share prices of 219 companies advanced on the day, while 22 declined and three remained unchanged. Likewise, share prices of six companies hit a positive circuit of 10% on the day. All the trading groups logged gains on the day, led by the Microfinance index, which was up by 3.44 points. Next were the Hydropower and Non-life Insurance sub-indices with gains of 3.22 points and 1.79 points, respectively.

CEDB Hydropower Development Company Ltd registered the highest turnover of the day with Rs 158.10 million worth of shares traded. Shine Resunga Development Bank and RSDC Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd were next on the list with turnovers of Rs 116.10 million and Rs 79.52 million, respectively.

Shares worth Rs 4.08 billion changed hands on the bourse on Tuesday through 59,856 transactions.
