Nepse closes 8.24 points lower

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its losing streak for a second straight day on Thursday and closed the last trading day of the week 8.24 points lower at 2,051.92 points on Thursday.

Nepse index posted nominal gains only two out of five trading days this week.

Share prices of 47 companies advanced on the day, while 188 declined and 11 remained unchanged on the day.

National Finance Ltd logged the highest turnover of the day with shares worth Rs 227.64 million traded. Next were Himalayan Reinsurance Company Ltd and United IDI Mardi RB Hydropower Ltd with turnovers of Rs 214.14 million and Rs 120.56 million, respectively.

Among trading groups, only the Banking and Mutual Fund sub-indices posted nominal gains. All other sub-indices ended the session in the red. The biggest loss came from the Finance sub-index which was down by 2.23%.

Shares worth Rs 3.71 billion were traded on the bourse on Thursday through 50,281 transactions. This was the lowest daily turnover of the week.
