Nepse closes 56.09 points higher

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index went up by 56.09 points to reach 2,653.58 points on Sunday, the first trading day of the week.

Although the benchmark index dipped initially, it gained value as the day progressed and eventually ended the session 2.15% higher.

Share prices of 219 companies advanced during the session, while 23 declined, and two remained unchanged. Shahas Urja Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session, with Rs 638.35 million worth of shares traded. NRN Infrastructure and Development and Nepal Finance Ltd were next, with turnovers of Rs 255.79 million and Rs 159.91 million, respectively.

All trading groups ended the session in green. The biggest gain came from the Finance sub-index, which was up by a whopping 6.3%. Next were the Manufacturing & Processing and Hydropower sub-indices, which rose by 3.12% and 2.73%, respectively.

Shares worth Rs 6.13 billion were traded on the bourse through 69,860 transactions on Sunday.
